Finding My Purpose

My husband Caleb and I met at Freed-Hardeman University. We got married in 2016 and our daughter was born in 2024.  We live in Knoxville, TN and worship with the Karns church of Christ.

I graduated college in 2014 with a BA in Studio Art and a minor in photography. I sold prints of my artwork, did freelance art and design work, and had a small portrait photography business, but I never felt passionate about what I was doing.

In 2021, I had the idea to make my own Bible materials. The idea stayed with me, but in September of that same year, my husband and I found out we were going to have a baby. I didn’t have time to start a business! And to be honest, I caught myself thinking—it’s just making Bible materials.

But I was given time. In October 2021, I had a missed miscarriage and we lost our first baby. I would struggle with infertility for the next two years.

About a month after our miscarriage, that idea crept back into my head. I desperately needed something meaningful in my life. I clung to the hope that one day I would get to meet our baby. I wanted to provide other families with that hope as well.

While teaching your children about God doesn’t always mean they will remain faithful, I wanted to provide parents with resources to help their children develop and strengthen their faith.

Who I Am

As a Christian mother, I can now truly understand the challenges that Families of Faith was created to address. While I understood the needs of churches when it came to Bible materials, becoming a parent has helped me to appreciate the struggles of parenting and the need to feed our families spiritually.

Our lives are busy. Parenting is overwhelming. There are so many questions and doubts that arise. As first-time parents, you have to figure everything out along the way and often feel like you don’t know what you’re doing.

My Background & Experiences

Growing up, my dad was a deacon in charge of education in several different congregations. I saw firsthand the preparation that went into Bible classes—choosing a curriculum, preparing materials, and equipping teachers.

Both my parents taught Bible classes, and I often helped my mom create visuals and activities for her classes. I made hand-drawn flip charts and helped with bulletin boards and anything else that needed done to help teach children about God.

I started helping teach Bible classes when I was a teenager and also helped prepare crafts and activities for Vacation Bible School.

Even though other Bible-based materials exist, I knew that I had the experience and artistic abilities to create something modern and functional for families and churches.

Helping Families and Churches Teach God’s Word

Now, I draw every Bible character, prop, and background scene to create interactive visuals, and write my own Bible lessons and VBS materials.

I know what parents, Bible class teachers, and church leaders need from their Bible materials. Families and churches all over the world are benefitting from the resources I have created.

Though Families of Faith grew out of a difficult time, I’m thankful for the ways God has used me so far and the glory that has been brought to His name through me.
