What is a Bible Study Kit and How Can I Use it for Family Bible Time?

By Jocelyn Capshaw

What is a Bible Study Kit?

Ever feel overwhelmed trying to plan family Bible time? Are you unsure of what to study or how to even begin? A Bible study kit takes that stress away!

A Bible study kit is a printable PDF document filled with Bible lessons and activities, designed to help families study God’s Word together.

A Bible study kit:

  • Is focused around one Bible topic, character, or book

  • Is a tool to help your family as you study the Bible together at home

  • Includes activities for a variety of ages

Read on to get an exclusive look at every page of a Bible study kit and see exactly how to print, assemble, and store your materials.

What is Included in a Bible Study Kit?

  • Memory verse art prints

  • Coloring pages

  • Worksheets

A Note About Bible Study Kit Versions

As of the August 2025, I am working on updating all Bible study kits! The new look (as seen in the video above) includes additional activities and more detailed family Bible lessons.

There are two easy ways to know whether a kit is updated.

The first is to look at the cover photo as shown below. Square photos are the old version while the newer versions are rectangles with a Bible timeline “logo” in the top left corner.

The second way is to read the item description! Each item has a description and the updated versions have a disclaimer at the very top of the text.

Older Bible study kits will all be updated to the new look and you will receive these updates for free! In the meantime, these older resources are still beneficial for your family.

I Purchased a Bible Study Kit—Now What?

Now that you’ve purchased a Bible study kit, it’s time to put it together!

Look at the instructions to know which pages to print on which type of paper. Bible lessons will be printed front and back on regular copy paper. Worksheets, coloring pages, and activity instructions will be printed on regular copy paper while things like Bible visuals and activities will be printed on card stock.

The video below shows how to print and prepare the contents of the Birth of Jesus Bible Study Kit! This is the same kit as shown in the first video, so now you can see it come to life.

How Do I Store My Bible Study Kit?

The instructions included in your kit detail three ways to store your materials: in a binder, a hanging file folder, or a mesh bag.

Once the family Bible lesson and visuals have been put into plastic sheet protectors, you’re ready to store your materials.

Watch the video below to see each of these three methods in action!

How Can a Bible Study Kit Help My Family?

Family Bible Time Guide

Our Bible study kits are designed to make your family Bible time easier. If your family has a goal of spending a few minutes learning about God each day, a Bible study kit will help keep you organized and give you materials to use so you’re not trying to come up with activities on the fly.

While extra materials aren’t necessary, they can help you reach your goal of having intentional and consistent family Bible time

Sample Schedule

Use the sample schedule included in your kit for a specific timeline and ideas to use your materials. Each Bible study kit is designed to be used for about one month.

Here are some ways I might use the Birth of Jesus Bible Study Kit. Since Sundays and Wednesdays are occupied by worship and Bible class, these ideas are for the other days of the week:

Week 1

  • Hang the calendar on the fridge. Show your children the memory verse print. Find the memory verse in your Bibles and read it together! If your children are preschool age, help them find the book of Isaiah. Remind them that Isaiah is in the Old Testament and starts with an I and try to find the book, then find the big number 9 for chapter 9 and the little number 6 for verse 6. Practice saying the verse a couple times and then practice with the memory verse review activity. If you have preschoolers, you may choose to use Luke 2:52 as the memory verse instead. Listen to this review song for practice!

  • Family Bible Lesson #1

  • Family Bible Lesson #2

  • Joseph’s Tool Belt Craft

  • Pick an activity from the activities page in the Family Bible Time Guide.

Week 2

  • Family Bible Lesson #3

  • Prayer and singing night. Ask for prayer requests and sing songs from the Bible Songs for Kids Youtube playlist.

  • Handprint Manger Craft

  • Family Bible Lesson #4

  • Pick an activity from the activities page in the Family Bible Time Guide.

Week 3

  • Family Bible Lesson #5

  • Popsicle Star Craft

  • Play the Gifts for Jesus File Folder Board Game

  • Memory verse practice or play a review game with questions from the Bible lessons

  • Pick an activity from the activities page in the Family Bible Time Guide.

Week 4

  • Family Bible Lesson #6

  • Practice the Sequencing Floor Puzzle

  • Bible Pictionary or charades using words from the birth of Jesus

  • Write cards to elders, sick, or someone else

  • Pick an activity from the activities page in the Family Bible Time Guide.

Other Activities to Include:

  • Worksheets

  • Coloring pages

  • Scripture writing

This is just a sample schedule, but you can see how incorporating activities from the Bible study kit schedule as well as ideas from the Family Bible Time Guide can help you find something to do every single day!

A Bible Study Kit gives your family everything you need to spend intentional, consistent time in God’s Word without the stress of planning from scratch. With lessons, visuals, activities, and schedules already prepared, you can focus on learning and growing together.
