Table of Contents
Overview
Seek and Find: Old Testament Bible Stories by Sarah Parker, illustrated by André Parker, is a detailed "I spy" Bible storybook for kids. While primarily focused on searching and finding objects and people in an illustration of a Bible story, the author includes simple truths about God.
Suggested Age Range
Seek and Find: Old Testament Bible Stories is an 18-page board book for children ages 2-5, written and illustrated by a husband and wife team. Preschoolers and up will enjoy searching for over 450 things to find and count within the sturdy, lay-flat pages.
Perfect for keeping young children occupied during worship, on a road trip, or at the doctor’s office.
If you enjoy this book, you’ll enjoy the sequels (New Testament Bible Stories and More Old Testament Bible Stories) as well as the accompanying activity books!
Artwork & Design
André Parker’s illustrations are simple, colorful, cartoony, and lively enough to conceal the many details included in each page. There’s so much going on in the illustrations, but it’s not too busy for young eyes to focus on the hidden objects. The characters are expressive and each Bible story is well-told simply though the artwork.
Each of the Bible stories includes a short summary of the lesson with pictures of what is hidden on the page, but most of the spread is dedicated to the artwork. It’s just the right amount of text, and the illustrated list of things to find makes this book a great Bible storybook for preschoolers and early elementary schoolers.
Once you have found everything on each page, head to the front of the book for a list of even more hidden items!
Bible Topics Covered
This Bible storybook for kids includes illustrations from eight Old Testament Bible stories:
The garden of Eden (Genesis 1-2)
Noah’s ark (Genesis 6:9 - 7:24)
Baby Moses (Exodus 2:1-10)
Ruth and Boaz (Ruth 2 & 4)
David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
King Solomon (2 Chronicles 9:13-24)
Jonah (Jonah 1-2)
Daniel in the Lions’ Den (Daniel 6)
Each page gives a brief summary of the Bible story and presents a truth about God or His character:
God is our amazing Creator
He rescues His people
He loves us and has a plan for us
He looks after us
He is the strongest
He shows us the best way to live
He always hears our prayers
He is King of all kings
Biblical Accuracy
Seek and Find: Old Testament Bible Stories is well-written and biblically accurate for the most part. The author summarizes each Bible story in simple language that is perfect for young children.
I always love when the fish from the story of Jonah is called a fish instead of a whale. However, the author wrote that God sent two of each kind of animal into the ark when He really sent two of every unclean animal and seven of every clean animal (Genesis 7:2-3). There are seven birds to find on this page which is accurate to the biblical account!
